George Peszynski, the retired Honorary Consul for Poland in Bristol and Clifton Cathedral parishioner will line-up for the start of the Bristol half marathon next week (14 September) - less than two years after suffering from a severely debilitating heart attack.
George’s marathon effort is his way of showing his appreciation and thanks for still being around. He’s aiming to raise £2,500 to support the
British Heart Foundation.
cliftondiocese.com brings you a couple of podcasts. We go to
Henbury Leisure Centre to meet George and find out about his training regime which sees him covering 30 miles a week. Keep up if you can! George talks about his great faith that helps in keeping him focussed on his marathon mission.
You can support George by sending cheques payable to the British Heart Foundation to him, care of Henbury Leisure Centre, Avonmouth Way, Henbury, Bristol BS10 7NG.
We also hear from George’s training partner Gordon Thomas. He’s running for
St Peter’s Hospice. Cheques in support of that charity can be sent to
Gordon at Poundbatch Farm, Abbots Leigh, Bristol BS8 3QY.
As well as the hard work, the dedicated runners share a great sense of fun which comes across in our special video clip from their latest training session.
And the inspiring pair are looking beyond the half marathon - they’re even talking about the London marathon for next year! Hear them discuss the possibility in our video clip which you can watch in our multimedia panel on the right.
George’s second podcast is a special message for the local Polish community in their own language.
