300 young people with Bishop Declan and their group leaders, all in our orange scarfs, journeyed from all areas of the diocese to the SSE Arena at Wembley for CYMFed Flame 2019. The theme of Flame was Significance. Significance is defined as “worthy of attention,” “with meaning,” “important.” In terms of Scripture, it is a word which resonates deeply with God’s words from heaven at the Baptism of Jesus, and the Transfiguration, “You are my Beloved.”

The crowd of over 8,000 gathered in the arena heard from fantastic speakers such as Archbishop Eamon Martin, Guvna B & Emma Borquaye and Robert Madu. Worship was led by Tim Hughes. The diocese was represented by Paul from St Peter’s Gloucester who accompanied Bishop Declan on stage for the final liturgy. One young person from a parish in Wiltshire said ‘this has opened my eyes to my part in the Church and that I’m part of something bigger!’
