Millions of Catholics from all over the world travel to Lourdes each year to witness the place where our lady appeared on numerous occasions to the young St Bernadette. Our annual Lourdes Pilgrimage provides an opportunity for us to gather as a Diocese with Bishop Declan and to pray and journey in faith. It is a time to step away from the rigours of life and to seek the peace, healing and grace which a pilgrimage experience can bring.
The Clifton Pilgrims, who are travelling to Lourdes during the last week of August, come from all parts of the Diocese and beyond. In Lourdes they will gather with the other Dioceses that make up the Catholic Association and will encounter pilgrims from all parts of the world.
For those not travelling to Lourdes, you will be remembered in our prayers and we invite you to journey with us on our pilgrimage through regular updates on this website. Each day there will be a series of reflections, videos, podcasts and pictures posted below. As we prepare to participate in daily Mass, processions and other ceremonies, we pray that the week will be a happy blend of pilgrimage and holiday, enabling all our pilgrims to grow in spirituality and to experience both hope and consolation. For those of you at home we pray that the blessing of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit will be with you as we journey together on our annual Diocesan pilgrimage.
The details will appear daily below.
