For the past 2 years a volunteer team of 30+ parishioners and members of the local community at St John The Evangelist, Bath have been working to restore what was once a dark and neglected part of the Church grounds, to create a beautiful Riverside Garden for the enjoyment of the local community, visitors to Bath and all the natural inhabitants.
Under the guidance of skilled experts, the team worked with reclaimed building materials, restoring traditional Victorian fencing and building heritage Bath Stone walls.
The statue of Our Lady of Bath, Queen of Peace was carved by sculptor Ben Dearnley over 12 weeks in the Summer of 2018. Made from a 7-tonne piece of solid Portland Stone, the work shows Our Lady with arms extended on a background of 14 rays of Light.
The parishioners of St John The Evangelist Church, Bath are extending an open invitation to the Diocese to come and pay a visit to their new riverside garden and the Statue of Our Lady of Bath, Queen of Peace.
