Over 70 young people from 6 different Schools and Colleges have been part of the CAFOD Young Volunteers during 2018/19. This programme is in its 6th year and the partnership between CAFOD Youth team and Clifton Diocese Youth Ministry continues to grow. The programme introduces CAFOD campaigns, social justice and the Gospel message through experiential learning. This year, Our Common home and living responsibly, showing good stewardship, have been the main focus. They have heard from Pope Francis through Laudato Si and taken this message of Care for our World back into their school communities.
To celebrate their achievements they gathered with their members of staff at Bristol Zoo Pavilions for their celebration day. Our guest speaker was David Murray, Managing Director of charity Article 25, a humanitarian architecture charity. David spoke to the young people about their work across the world and also about why he chose to have a career motivated by values rather than money in the charity sector. David presented the young people with their certificates before we closed the day with a final reflection and time exploring Bristol Zoo.
Many thanks to all the schools for taking part, their accompanying staff, Sarah Wells from CAFOD, David Murray and all those who have supported the programme this year.
We look forward to another successful programme in 2019/20.
