The pupils and parents of St Pius X school in Withywood, Bristol, joined by Parish Priest Fr Michael Healy, held a special assembly on Friday 4th October to Celebrate the Harvest Season.

The celebration included prayers and poems created by the children, and the singing was a joy. All the pupils played a part from Reception to Year 6.

Gifts of pasta, canned foods, cereals and many other useful supplies were generously donated to help others in need in the community.

The gifts will be given to the “Carpenter’s Food Bank” which was set up in 2012 and run by a group of local churches to serve the community of Withywood.

The children and their parents have been great supporters of this Food Bank, and always bring generous donations to School Masses throughout the academic year.

Beautiful loaves of fresh bread were made by the school caterers and were cut and shared with Parents and pupils at the end of assembly.

All agreed the bread was delicious !
