With only 5 days to go before the beginning of the Synod on Youth, Faith & Vocational Discernment, everyone is invited to visit our dedicated Synod page and explore the resources, videos and pictures and to pray for young people during this important time. The Synod which takes place in Rome runs for the next 3 weeks and involves young delegates from across the world, working alongside Pope Francis, the Synod Fathers and Youth Ministry professionals.
During the week of Monday 15th – Sunday 21st October, everyone in our diocese is invited to take part in a week of focus and prayer for young people. Prayers for each day are available in parishes and online, along with an intercession for all Masses and Liturgies of the Word.
During this week of prayer, Dave Wheat, Coordinator of Youth Ministry, along with Abbey Mounter, Lay Chaplain at St Bede’s Catholic College, are travelling to Rome for the CYMFed (Catholic Youth Ministry Federation) members conference. There they will meet with the Synod Fathers from England & Wales, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Bishop Ralph Heskett and Bishop Mark O’Toole. Dave and Abbey will be updating the diocese each day with interviews and pictures, telling the story of the Synod.
