Every year our diocesan day draws a diocesan community together for a day’s formation, prayer, reflection and conversation. This year will be no different! We gather at St Brendan’s Sixth Form College on Saturday 30 June with our Bishop and with people from across the 107 parishes in the diocese as well as some of our communities, too. It is always a good day and the hope is that there is something for everyone – the young and the young at heart!
In this our diocesan Year of Mission we welcome Hannah Vaughan-Spruce as our keynote speaker. Hannah is the UK coordinator for Divine Renovation, a resource that is finding itself embedded in so many parishes as a tool for shaping us up for mission rather than for simple maintenance. Hannah will speak to us of an outreach to a particular group of people – those who have fallen out of contact with our parish communities and those who would declare themselves as having ‘no faith’. How might we reach out to them? How do we proclaim Good News to them? How do we go out in order to attract them to Christ and to community? Its good to have someone of Hannah’s experience at the start of our day together.
Put the date in your diary and encourage your parish community to take part in the Diocesan Day. The full schedule for the day will start to appear and details of the workshops you can sign up for will find their way onto noticeboards and into inboxes across the next couple of days!
