Fr George Henwood, Parish Priest at St Gerard Majella in Knowle, has made a short video endorsing the final Ride for Vocations that Fr Matt Anscombe is making soon.
Cycling Some of the Iconic Climbs of the Tour de France in the Alps and Pyrenees
26th June – 9th July 2018.
First it was an 800 mile ride to every parish of the diocese in 2015. Then in 2016, it was Lands End to John o’Groats. Last year it was London to Paris in under 24 hours.
Now, Fr Matt, Vocations Director for Clifton Diocese, has decided to go for one last ‘Ride for Vocations’. This one is every keen road cyclist’s dream (or nightmare). Fr Matt will take on 10 iconic climbs of the Tour de France in both the Alps and Pyrenees.
A true sufferfest! All effort and suffering will be offered for the Vocations Ministry of the diocese. Please pray along with Fr Matt. Each climb will have a specific prayer intention which Fr Matt will be praying through. Follow his progress and pray along with him. Find out more by clicking to the different pages.
Total distance to climb: 143 miles
Total altitude gain: 50,500 feet
Average gradient: 7%
Maximum elevation: 9,002 feet (Col d’Agnel)
