We’ve some superb speakers lined up for this year’s Diocesan Day at St Brendan’s to help us continue to navigate our journey through this Year of Mission.

Hannah Vaughan-Spruce who works as the UK co-ordinator for Divine Renovation will be our keynote speaker and will lead a workshop around Divine Renovation and enabling it to work in a UK setting. Her keynote will focus on our mission of outreach to those who, somehow, have lost touch with Church and the community as well as those the Gospel message has yet to touch.

David McLoughlin from Newman University  in Birmingham makes another visit to our diocese to help us consider Mission, Pope Francis, and the parish.

Elizabeth Davies who is the national director for training and formation at Marriage Care helps us consider ‘A Mission to marriage

Anne Marie Sparrow works on behalf of the Catholic Grandparents Assoc and explores ‘Mission and the Catholic Grandparent

Margaret Ulloa comes with plenty of experience in parishes and interfaith dialogue helps us reflect upon ‘A Mission of welcome and embrace: The changing demographic in our parishes

Kathryn Turner who is the spirituality advisor for the diocese of Hexham and Newcastle comes to lead her workshops on ‘Prayer at the heart of the family and the parish

James Abbott from the Catholic Media Office of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales  helps us consider ‘Communicating Good News… and doing it well

Tim Stevens who works in CaFE (Catholic Faith Exploration), London, brings with him the experience of ‘bringing Mission alive with film, food and fun ‘

There should be plenty to choose from and something for everyone in the parish. There’s much to engage us, to stimulate us, resource us… and plenty we can take away back to our parishes.

The day is open to everyone and its always good to welcome so many from across the 107 parishes and 13 deaneries in our diocese. Do come and join Bishop Declan on Saturday 30 June at St Brendan’s, Bristol. I would just ask that you let me know numbers by contacting us direct by email: Lunch at the Diocesan Day will be provided for all participants and we will therefore need to know by Friday 22 June so that we can arrange catering appropriately.
