With just a few weeks until Christmas, the children at St Francis Catholic Primary School in Nailsea, have been busy packing shoe boxes with all kinds of essential items along with a few special treats.

The boxes will be delivered to families in Moldolva, one of the poorest countries in Europe, in order to make the festive season that bit brighter.

The St Francis’ pupils, decided to support the Shoe Box appeal, as part of their work on Catholic Social Teaching and have filled around 75 boxes to date. One of the pupils commented ‘It’s a great way for us to respond to Pope Francis’ message in his letter Fratelli Tutti. We are trying to share God’s love with the poor and vulnerable and make a difference to children who live in very poor parts of the world.’
