The Youth group at Holy Ghost Yeovil has been running for around 3 years, meeting once a month in the parish hall. Run by committed volunteers they have a mix of activities, reflections and formation on offer to the young people. The volunteers began their journey meeting with Dave Wheat, Coordinator of Youth Ministry, attending training events and ensuring their DBS certificates & Safeguarding procedures were in place. The numbers of young people attending the group, diocesan events and CYMFed Flame have been consistent through the three years and they are thriving.

Dave Wheat visited the group last week to support the volunteers and meet the young people. ‘I’m always keen to make the journey to Yeovil to see the group. They are always so welcoming and there’s a great atmosphere in the group. I spoke to them about the Synod on Youth which takes place in October and asked them a few questions. The young people were really responsive and keen to know how they can make a difference.’ Ben, who is a young person, told Dave; ‘I love coming here, it’s a place where I can catch up with my friends, I wish it could happen every week!’
