On Saturday 5 November, the Clifton World Youth Day 2023 pilgrims met together for the first time at St John the Evangelist in Bath. In addition to meeting one another for the first time, the pilgrims began their formation process. Jonny, from Aglow Pilgrimages, shared a powerful personal testimonial about the impact pilgrimage has had in his life. Thomas Skeats, OP, gave a talk on the theology of pilgrimage, its history in the life of the Church, and the need for Christians to deepen and better understand their faith. The pilgrims also broke into smaller groups, listening to one another and spending time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
The second in-person formation session is December 10 at St Mary’s-on-the-Quay in Bristol. Please keep the young adults preparing for World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon in your prayers – the pilgrims will be praying for Clifton Diocese, and for our parishes. As of right now, there are only seven places remaining for the pilgrimage. We encourage you to speak with your parish priest and see if there are any young adults (18-35) in your parish who you might like to encourage or support on this pilgrimage. We expect that these places will be filled, so we encourage you to contact us quickly. The form can be found here World Youth Day 2023 | Clifton Diocese, and please email email@example.com for more information.
